John Zingale
Middle School Social Studies Teacher
Vancouver iTech Preparatory
John teaches MS Social Studies and coaches National History Day at iTech Preparatory in Vancouver, Washington. John uses a HiPstory (Hands-on, individualized, Project-based History) approach to teaching. His students become historians by focusing on developing skills that'll last beyond the classroom. Instead of using textbooks, they conduct research and interviews, build museum exhibits, create documentaries, practice Archeology, and produce VR. He's served on multiple education boards and won local, state, and national awards for his teaching. He's also developed an official partnership with the Fort Vancouver NHS for the VR tours and 3D-scanning of artifacts for them.
