AI in Schools: A Leadership Conversation (Panel)
Seattle Convention Center - 607
According to the Office of Educational Technology, “many educators are actively exploring AI tools as they are newly released to the public. Educators see opportunities to use AI-powered capabilities like speech recognition to increase the support available to students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and others who could benefit from greater adaptivity and personalization in digital tools for learning. They are exploring how AI can enable writing or improving lessons, as well as their process for finding, choosing, and adapting material for use in their lessons.” With all the possibilities provided by AI, there are also concerns, including ethical concerns with data privacy, navigating bias of information, resource limitations, and equity issues. Some school districts have banned chat bots while they begin to explore the answers to many questions and how AI will impact students and educators. Join us for a discussion on a range of questions with respect to AI: How can we empower students with AI? Should a district guide the use of AI and what tools will need to be developed? Will learning and teaching be forever changed with AI and how are we preparing educators? Can AI be used to improve school safety? What help do districts need to explore and utilize AI effectively?
