Tell Your Story: Using Multimodal Literacies to Explore Issues and Identity

Learn how middle and high school students engage with multimodal digital tools to create stories about themselves and the issues in their communities that they care about. By learning to critically produce these digital stories, students become better consumers of others' stories as well, and build their digital literacy skills in multiple areas. Examples will be shared and include photo essay projects, short documentaries, PSAs, global partnership projects and more.

Dr. McClanahan is a Professor of Secondary Education at Western Washington University. Her main areas of research include digital media literacy as well as critical media literacy.
