AI and Assessment: Safeguarding the Learning

Thursday, February 15, 11:00 am–11:50 am
Seattle Convention Center - 608

Assessment is daunting in the age of AI. We lean so heavily on products of learning as the method to see what students know, and now that tools exist that can create those products in no time and with no effort, what are we to do? This session approaches this question in three major ways: (1) designing assessments to minimize the impact of AI and increase the motivation to engage in the task, (2) supplementing products of learning with alternative process-focused elements, and (3) learning how to incorporate AI in meaningful ways in the assessment process, both for students and for teachers.
