Measuring the Impact: Evaluating Cybersecurity Effectiveness Using the New Cybersecurity Rubric for Education Based on National Standards Cybersecurity attacks on schools are increasing alarmingly, putting schools under immense pressure to protect student data and ensure learning isn't interrupted. Existing cybersecurity standards are complex, costly, and not designed for Education. Recognizing this challenge, a team of innovative education organizations and K-12 leaders formed the Cybersecurity Coalition for Education and developed tools for school system leaders. Using the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), learn about the new cybersecurity tools available for Education to measure cybersecurity effectiveness! Discover details about the rubric designed to measure cybersecurity effectiveness in school systems by gauging cybersecurity practice maturity levels against the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. As Senior Director of Instructional Technology, Anu supports districts across the western US helping them implement the best in technology solutions. A veteran of the education technology space and a current ISTE Certified Educator, Anu has been serving school districts around the country for nearly 15 years. Previously, Anu was at Renaissance, where she was instrumental in aligning new solutions specifically to school district needs. In her five years at ClassLink, she consistently listens to the voice of her customers to identify their unique needs. She has led technology forums and presented at numerous education technology conferences across the country.
Executive Director
Pete Just, CETL, CCRE Serves as the Executive Director of the Indiana CTO Council. He retired in 2022 as CTO & COO MSD of Wayne after 24 years leading their IT and Facilities efforts. Starting out as a teacher, he began using technology to expand learning and has been deep in digital innovation ever since. He received his MS in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University and has served as adjunct faculty there. Pete was elected to the CoSN National Board in 2014 and served as national CoSN Board chair and completed his board service in 2023. He is founding Chair of the Indiana Chief Technology Officer’s Council and has chaired the Indiana DOE K12 Cyber Security Task Force since 2018. Pete’s numerous IT security presentations at the state and national level help technology leaders be empowered with the cyber security knowledge and resources to lead proactively in their own school systems. For the past year, he has also served as CoSN’s SME on Artificial Intelligence. Believing technology can enhance learning and opportunity Pete’s passion is in giving all students and staff the chance to fulfill their God--given potential.
