PBL without AI: Authentic Learning in a Tech-Heavy World

This presentation discusses the intentional design of AI-free project-based learning (PBL) experiences. While AI is powerful, students need manual research, hands-on exploration, and authentic collaboration to build critical thinking skills. I recommend using physical materials, requiring face-to-face interviews and surveys, limiting devices, and implementing frequent checkpoints. She provides practical examples and emphasizes that AI isn't the enemy—teachers should be teaching it—but that balancing AI-allowed and AI-free projects creates deeper thinkers and stronger learners with both technological literacy and fundamental capabilities.
