The Starship Equinox Gamified Missions in Math & Science

Thursday, February 26, 3:00 pm–3:50 pm
Seattle Convention Center - 607

Climb aboard the Starship Equinox, Starfleet’s premier science-training vessel, and see how a middle-school math & science teacher turned an entire classroom into a cooperative story-driven game. In this fast-paced session you’ll discover how Star Trek themed roles (Ops/Conn, Medical/Science, Engineering/Security) power teamwork, how “dilithium crystals” and “boss-battle missions” motivate mastery, and how XP is decoupled from grades to keep the focus on learning. We’ll unpack the tech stack (Google Workspace, Desmos, Class spreadsheets, AI co-pilots) and the narrative mechanics that any educator—or tech coach supporting them—can adapt for any subject.
