To Err Is Human: Life Skills in an AI World

Thursday, February 27, 11:00 am–11:50 am
Seattle Convention Center - 611

At NCCE 2024 I announced Genesis Project as a university and school partnership to explore learning sciences, policy and practice in action to support developing young people as irreplaceable humans while still intentionally learning, engaging, and grappling with generative artificial intelligence. Genesis Project has become a lab school with multiple lines of research occurring simultaneously. This session includes research highlights and student perspectives to illustrate some of this dynamic learning. Specific artifacts and projects will be highlighted prior to NCCE 2025 that both succeeded and failed during the first part of the school year. Actionable lesson plans, digital collections, and examples of student artifacts will be available to participants to support developing life skills while transferring academic content to projects using artificial intelligence purposefully.
