Sherman STEAM Elementary has transformed from a traditional school, to a STEAM school, using PBL as the instructional model. What began as a PBL block of time in year one has grown to incorporate all subjects, classrooms, and our community in year 4. Teachers led and continue to lead our STEAM & PBL work. Tara Edmond, Sherman STEAM Elementary
Tara is a banana slug alumnus, having earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She holds a Masters in Teaching and is National Board Certified. Currently, Tara works as the Instructional Coach at Sherman STEAM Elementary in Tacoma, Washington. She began teaching in 1999; working in instructional coaching since 2005. Her career began at the YMCA where she met her husband. Tara has been published in the FOSS newsletter and was a presenter at the National ISTE conference. When not at school, Tara is usually at soccer practice for her 3 children.
